Many people consider the new double-glazing law to be a waste of time and money in Northland.
This is because it has been promoted primarily on the basis of its value in conserving energy; keeping homes warmer, dryer and therefore healthier.

We think double-glazing is long overdue in Northland as it is in the rest of the country – but for quite different reasons. We support double-glazing in Northland because it helps reduce moisture levels in the home – and here in Northland we get more than our share of moisture!

The other reason is whatever keeps a place warm can also keep a place cool. Just as Eskimos use refrigerators to stop their milk freezing, we can use double-glazing to help keep our homes from being uncomfortably over-heated in summer.
